Presentation

Result of millions of years of erosion in a karstic environment, the digging of the canyon started during the first alpine pushes. You will discover an emerald water, a rare biodiversity rich of a fauna and a flora of exception.

Remarkable for the landscapes encountered and the biodiversity they host, the Lower Gorges du Verdon are one of the favorite hiking trails for walkers.
But they are much more than that: their ecological richness, reinforced by the presence of bats and numerous bird species, gives them a special status for nature lovers.
Moreover, the emblematic Verdon canal adds to the heritage value of these places.
This part of the gorges located between Quinson and Esparron-de-Verdon is also well known by holidaymakers who are numerous to travel it by electric boat or canoe during the summer.
The site has been developed within the framework of the Departmental Plan of walking and hiking routes of the Alpes de Haute-Provence. The renovation in 2014 of the hiking trail of the low gorges guarantees a secure access while preserving the nature.
